SLGR VS Conventional Dehumidifier

To determine the key differences between conventional dehumidifiers and SLGR/LGR dehumidifiers, it is important to consider their unique features.

LGR Dehumidifier

This dehumidifier contains an improved refrigeration system that has been designed to allow the unit to dry a space with lower humidity levels. They are known for performing better than conventional dehumidifiers, with an air-to-air heat exchanger, and pre-cooling designs that enable it to effectively remove moisture below 34 GPP. The unit consumes less electricity, and will continue to clean and dry the air even when the humidity is as low as 80 F/20%, where conventional dehumidifiers cannot function.

It is professional-grade equipment that is used by damage restoration experts to handle even the toughest, most complex jobs, and assists them in delivering outstanding results to their clients. It is a powerful dehumidifier that deserves a place in your toolbox.

Convectional Dehumidifiers

Conventional dehumidifiers are meant to be used to remedy water damage. They are portable, and can be easily loaded onto or off of a vehicle. They draw in moisture-laden air, and pass it across super-cooled coils. The temperature of the moisture-laden air drops below the dew point, causing it to condense onto the coils. The dehumidifier then heats the dry air before releasing it once more into the room where it can collect more moisture, repeating this process over and over again. Unfortunately, these conventional models may not be as effective as Uni-P Dry dehumidifiers. While they do remove moisture, they are not efficient in drying air and removing moisture in an environment that is saturated with water. The only real benefit compared to the LGR dehumidifiers is that they are cheaper to buy, but they are otherwise inferior to their LGR counterparts.

Why SLGR is Referred to as Super LGR Technology

SLGR is an abbreviation for Super Low-Grain Refrigerant. Uni-P Dry dehumidifiers use SLGR technology that utilizes the air-to-air heat exchanger mechanism to bring the air closer to condensation. The air is then passed over super-cooled coils and condensed into water. The dehumidifier uses the microchannel Alu condenser designed to maximize capacity and efficiency. This makes it possible for more air condensation to take place on the coils. It also allows for a quick heat exchange to take place, and leads to more moisture being sucked in, and less moisture being pumped in the air. It is ideal for professionals working in very wet conditions, and achieves the best results in the shortest amount of time.

At Uni-P Dry, we are committed to providing top-quality restoration equipment. Our units are designed to meet the client’s demands, so we supply both SLGR and conventional dehumidifiers to suit your needs. Our models include the Renegade 1400X that works in AHAM conditions, and is designed to remove about 140 pints of water every day. We also stock a series of SLGR dehumidifiers including the Renegade 1600X that also works in AHAM conditions, comes with an internal pump, and removes 160 pints per day.

Since conventional dehumidifiers have a lower price point than the SLGR dehumidifiers, it is important to consider your budget before deciding which dehumidifier would best suit your needs
