How to Determine if I Need a Dehumidifier13 Aug

There are many advantages to using a dehumidifier. When the general indoor humidity level is controlled, you reduce the chances of mold and bacteria growth that can lead to serious health conditions. Humans are most comfortable when the humidity level is just right: not too high, and not too low. By maintaining optimal humidity levels, you decrease your chances of rheumatism, arthritis, neuralgia, bronchitis, asthma, and other diseases.

So how do you determine if you need a dehumidifier?

1.Check if there is an increase in the groundwater level around your home. If you see long-term standing water and a watermark is left outside your home, or if you see a watermark in the basement, you may need a dehumidifier.

2.Inspect your home regularly. If you find that the floor in your home is often damp and the ceiling is moldy, or the basement or crawl space is damp, you may need to use a dehumidifier to reduce the risk of mold or mildew growth in your home.

3.Measure and monitor the humidity level in your home. Testing the humidity level in your home can tell you whether there is too much or too little moisture. If the humidity level exceeds 60%, you should probably use a dehumidifier to bring it down to more ideal levels.

4.If you live in a tropical or subtropical environment where humidity is often higher than 50%, you should consider purchasing a dehumidifier as a precaution. By running a dehumidifier, you will ensure that the humidity level in your home or workspace is kept at a low, comfortable level. This helps to maintain good air quality, and prevent property damage.
